Who has seen a damagepattern like this and knows what causes it ?
After powerfailure I often see that the MBR or GPT-table is wiped blank - or occasionally overwritten with garbage.
Right now I have something strange - 4 disks show a pattern like this:
I am looking at the first 30 MB of each disk and they all show similar pattern.
The diskbootsector is wiped blank or overwritten with garbage. The typical VMFS signature
areas where the datastore name and the UUID are referenced are wiped.
The .vh.sf is wiped blank.
Thats all expected and nothing that I find strange - but the pattern 6C 6C 6C ... marked in blue
is strange. It starts after maybe3 Mbs and then stops at about 15 - 20 Mb.
6C is repeated 25 times - followed by zeroes.
After 1024 bytes the pattern repeats itself.
The customer thinks the reason was a mainboard failure but he is unsure.
Has anybody seen something like that ?
