Hello,

I've recently installed an IBM server 3550 M3 (type 7944), and VMWare vSphere 5.0 (Build 821926).

I''ve installed a VM with Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1.

But i'm having issue connecting a SAS IBM tape drive TS2240 type 3580-H4V.

The tape drive is connected through LSI 2008 & it’s in vmware compatibility list .

As explained in the below article . I have assigned The IBM tape drive to  “virtual device node” to SCSI (1:0) ,
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1016407

Please find the controller & tape drive details below ,

IBM ULT3580-HH4 SCSI Sequential Device

Location 160 (Bus Number 0 Id 1 LUN 0)

Device Display Name: IBM Serial Attached SCSI Tape (naa.50050763120ad70f)
   Adapter: vmhba5  Channel: 0 Target: 0 LUN: 0

I'm using Arcserve Backup 16.0 SP1 and  backup job fails with error "E3895 Failed to position the media".

What's going wrong ?

Please, someone can help ?
