Hello,
I have a hp proliant g5 as esxi 5 host and a qnap ts419u nas connected with dedicated networkcard (Intel 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller dual port) with a hp 1810G24 managed switch.
I use the qnap as nfs datastore.
I followed the configuration guide kb1004088 nic teaming, using static lcap for the connection to the esxi host and dynamic lcap for the connection to the qnap using IEEE 802.3ad trunk mode. To have best performance I enabled jumbo frames MTU 9000 on all devices.
Before I was using a crossover- cable to the qnap to one of the network ports without teaming.
To have a simple test I copy an iso- image about 512 MB stored on the nas to a local datastore (raid10 sas).
I was really surprised as I changed my configuration to teaming that the copy operation before was nearly constant 38 seconds and now is nearly constant 42 seconds.
I thought that in teaming the total transfer- rate should be 2 GB, but in any way faster than without teaming.
I have 3 virtual devices using the teaming nics, a vSwitch, a virtual machine network interface and a vmkernel network interface.
I set up the teaming feature only on the vSwitch and not on the other virtual adapter.
Is there any reason you can see why my connection is that slow?
