Can't exit ntpq prompt in shell

I launched a shell from a 5.1 host to troubleshoot NTP. For some reason I can't exit the ntpq prompt. I tried exit, quit, logout, ctrl + c, x, z, q. How do i get back to the original prompt? Or just logout of the session and start a new one. Nothing works.
