Hi all. I've just built a whitebox ESXi 5 machine running on a MSI Z68A-GD80(B3). I have just noticed data corruption issues with my Dell PERC5i RAID controller.
After some reasearch, it seems that this is a common issue for owners of this card with VT-d enabled. This still seems to be an issue in ESXi 5 (all reported problems seem to be for ESXi 4/U1). It does seem though that this isn't related to the ESX version but instead is a hardware incompatibility with the card itself with VT-d.
Are there any known workarounds for this issue appart for disabling VT-d? I build this system with the intention of using VMDirectPath so disabling VT-d would be a bummer. As a long term solution, I would most likely have to get a different, and hopefully inexpensive RAID controller. Is it known if the PERC6 also has this issue with VT-d? What would be a good choice for RAID card?
Thanks, your help is appreciated.
