Maximums: Combination 10Gbit and 1Gb ports

Hi,

We have some servers with a internal quad 10Gb Nic port. We also added two dual port 1 Gb nics. At this moment we do not have a 10Gbit network available and also the chipset is very buggy. HP didn't come with a solution yet.

So, we like to add more 1Gbit ports. Now I read the following maximum:

Combination of 10Gb and 1Gb Ethernet ports     Six 10Gb and Four 1Gb ports

I want to add 4 more 1Gb ports, but due to the fact the servers are delivered with 10Gbit internal NIC ports it is not supported to add more 1Gb NIC ports.

I have two questions and hope someone can answer them:

1 Why is this maximum set?

2 Can I add more nic ports, because I do not use the 10Gbit ports (the physical adapters are not connected and down, but visable within vCenter)?
