Most of y'all have very complicted setups. I've got Esxi on five different installations and it works great. All of my installations are small offices, very budget sensitive with only a few virtual machines. In each case, the drives inside are on a either Adaptec 6405 or LSI RAID 9260-4i controllers using RAID 1. In all caes - except one - they use SATA drives. In one case, where the box is running an Exchange server VM and a domain controlelr VM, I have that box running on faster SAS drives.
With that said, two questions:
- SAS drives are expensive, especially when you need a lot of space for customer data. I've got a future install on another lower end situation where there is a lot of data and not a huge need for disk speed. Do ya'll still cringe when SATA drives are mentioned?
- I've never used anything but RAID 1 but have been reading about RAID 10...any thoughts on RAID10?
Thanks!
