I am a newbie when it comes to ESXi. I am trying to install ESXi 5.1 on a regular laptop in preparation for installing on a server. I have succesfully installed ESXi, but I can't figure out how to connect to the network. The network is DHCP enabled, but after the first boot ESXi said that DHCP lookup has failed. Then I tried manually setting the IP. Pinging that IP doesn't work; also pinging a computer in the network from the ESXi interface also failed. The weird thing is that it detectes the network cable as it says that it is disconnected when I disconnect the cable from the laptop.
Could you please help me with this issue?
