ESXi 5.0.1/5.1.0: SQL Server 2008 R2 issue

Has anyone had any DB issues (specifically SSIS and/or tempDB corruption errors) after gracefully shutting down a Server 2008 R2 VM hosting a SQL Server 2008 R2 instance?  We're running a vendors application on this configuration and are consistently encountering SQL Server DB errors after reboot.

After review by our SysAdmins and the Vendors integration engineer we've been unable to identify the issue, but the integration engineer believes that it may be a VMWare hardware bug (we've rebuilt the machine several times, and the issue has occurred with both H/w versions 7 and 8).

We first encountered the issue when attempting to patch the machine, and initially attributed the errors to the updates; however, even reverting the machine fails to correct the issue which makes it seem that just the act of shutting down the machine is what's causing the issues.

Thanks,

James
