Deleted virtual disk file and datastore, just want to boot OS now.

So I had a win7 VM, and I added a virtual disk on a new datastore.

The new disk came up fine on windows as a new drive, and I was able to format it etc.

Now I basically unplugged the whole system, and booted Linux instead of ESX, and ran all over the disk on which my datastore was.

Next I booted back into vmware, and saw that the windows VM was in a 'suspended' state, and if I try to resume it, it complains about the missing disk file -

"

Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.
Cannot open the disk '/vmfs/volumes/504e6c8a-b20d8bfd-1768-001e674dda97/win7/win7_1.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
VMware ESX cannot find the virtual disk "/vmfs/volumes/504e6c8a-b20d8bfd-1768-001e674dda97/win7/win7_1.vmdk". Verify the path is valid and try again.

"

But it does not resume successfully. I tried to edit settings to remove the 'Hard Disk 2' from its devices, but that is disabled since I suppose the VM is suspended.

I don't care about the virtual disk or any data on it, I don't even need it to be in windows - I just want to boot in

Is there any way to get out of this state without having to delete the whole vm and re-installing windows?

Thanks!
