VM Shuts Off After Virtual Disk Expansion

Hey all.

We are running ESXi 5.0 U1, and I am having a strange issue with some VMs in our ERP/SAP environment.  I went in to expand one of the virutal drives, and after entering the new value and hitting OK, the VM shut off.  It was not a graceful shut down, nor was there any warning.  All I got was the following error message:

An error occurred while restarting virtual machine after  taking a snapshot. The virtual machine will be powered off.

We are not using VMware snapshots on this machine or others like it.  The VM itself is a Windows 2008 R2 system, running Microsoft Cluster.  We have several RDMs in phys compatibility mode attached, and these are being shared with another, identicially configured, VM.  Here are some more details from the task details:

Has anyone seen this issue?  Support is asking me to "replicate and test," but I can't during business hours, as these are production and I can only fiddle with them during an outtage window, which I won't have for a while.

Any thoughts?
